Why Regina Recommends
I am a self-help junkie who is always looking for new tools to add to my self-improvement arsenal. I didn't love the format of the book – about 85% of it is “fluff” about four fictional characters and is a bit cringe. But I did pick up some new strategies in the remaining 15% -- lessons on developing better habits, becoming more productive, mastering your mindset and setting the tone for each day.
The concept: Wake up at 5 am while the rest of your household is asleep and follow the 20/20/20 rule of 20 minutes of exercise, 20 minutes of self-reflection/journaling and 20 minutes of personal growth/studying. Sharma says that your brain is most calm and focused when you first wake up.
While 5 am is WAY too early for me, I do find waking up an hour earlier each day helps me accomplish the same thing. I am definitely not a morning person, but I find I am a lot more productive since I have started this practice. Just skim over the silly storyline if it doesn’t appeal to you – you won’t miss out on anything!
